the sinner

what does it profit me to blame others for my sin?

shall my father, mother, sister, brother stand in my place on the day of judgement?

who else should give an account of my life, other than myself?

indeed all men must answer for themselves the days of their lives.

.

should i then blame demons? those that seek to deceive?

shall all my sin be pinned upon that faceless conspirator, that unseen enemy?

for though he seeks to kill, steal and destroy, it is i who delight in it.

for though he might whisper in my ear and nudge me toward that cliff,

it is i who merrily go my way.

for the heart is deceitful above all things; how else could i delight in my own destruction?

so then in my blindness, in my deafness

i am not less guilty; indeed i am more

for not only do i hate God,

i am incapable of loving Him at all.

.

one might look at at serial killer bound by genetic and heartfelt compulsion with pity,

for he by ignorance and desire cannot help but do what he does.

yet he is more dangerous and less deserving of redemption than all others,

he cannot be saved – he does not want to be saved –

what use has society of him than for isolation and destruction?

.

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,
even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

.

who can be as such?

to love those who hate you,

and redeem those who have spat in your face

.

who shall i turn to on that glorious day?

Christ, Lord Jesus to you I shall turn.

for in you there is all life, all clarity, all sight, all joy, all pleasure.

.

Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love. He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.

.

into the depths of the sea, where the sin and past me shall be.

help me remember Lord, that all i once thought was good belongs in the sea,

all i have let it be Christ, and Christ esteemed.
