the greatest miracle

we obsess with great acts of healing, the growing of limbs, the restoration of sight, even the raising of the dead;

yet our bodies will still fade, they will still die, they will still be left behind, wasting. the body is raised to life, only to die again.

yet, there is a raising to life that does not end again in death.

the kind the Spirit brings as one comes to the saving knowledge of Christ, the kind that awakens one’s dying soul to the awesomeness of God, the kind that brings eternal life.

i am still a boy, i have not myself witnessed such great physical miracles. but this i know,

for as grand an act one might do for the body, what the Spirit does for the spirit by the Word surpasses it in all respects.

Ephesians 2:8-10

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
