The Years I Lost

there is no maybe,
only unfortunate serendipity
knowing
your pleasure derived
is my demise.

yea i take pride (sides)
unknowingly

there is a war inside
where my mind and heart
bicker like an old couple,
but with the passion
of my younger years.

i wish i was young again.

but i’m not.

the years have been eaten,
my mind weakened
and there is no other direction
than forward,
up and away,

where my feet found
a better footing
among the clouds

i haven’t moved an inch,
but i can see the miles ahead –

i think that counts for something.
