the God who acts

sometimes I wish You’d keep quiet
and withdraw your hand,
sit the round out.
let me drive for a change.
the God who intervenes,
is the one who inteferes.
sit on Your hands this time;
my fingers itch for the wheel.
am I not worthy?
was I too weak
for the path I set for myself?
sit it out.
be silent.
bound again and again
to Your spoken Word,
why must You speak?

because there was no better way,
because You saw the path ahead,
because You set it long ago,
because You knew before,
because You know ahead,
because You love.

help me love You and Your will.
