An Out-pouring

Home coming
And the table has been set
Knives poised at 12 o’clock,
Ready to stab at leftovers
From dinners long past

“The Chinese eat with chopsticks,”
You say, and
She uses a chopstick to poke her steak

The elder looks on
but knowing all the same.

It all about him,
It was always was.
