remembering

“you are a failure”
whispers the thunder of my voice;
the clocktower chimes for all to hear –
I remember, I remember;
I wish I could not see.

“stop being stupid”
with my spectacles on stage;
blinded, my ears ring true –
I remember, I remember;
I wish I could not hear.

“come back to me, my son”
the foreign voice beckons.

my parents told me never follow a stranger;
yet I remember, I remember;
I wish that I could hear.

“my arms are open”
I feel them.

my heart has been closed, and so are my eyes;
but I remember, I remember;
I wish that I could see.

“trust, and I will again show You my glory”

I remember.

the glistening white.

the thunderous voice.
the silent comfort.

His angel armies behind.
His loving touch.
His hands that wipe all tears.
His power.
His grace.

I remember,
but soon I need not.
memory turn to reality –

for The King has come.
