lost (in) youth

looking across, or looking back?
different faces, familiar roles; disjointed
tuned to the carnal call of nature’s appoint –
where the reaches of creases and man-made
teases haven’t yet been.
young and free,
off chasing diamond rings,
filling the movie screens;
stories of old, older for us still.
telling tales of stories,
legends to us –

yet we were those legends;
yet we had our time.
when time chased youth faster,
harder than we ever tried.
when the hands ticked faster,
than our hands could move
the mountains we could.
where we fought dragons
with dreams, not pens or shimmering

now left with fading (faded) glimpses
into actions done, undone, unspoken,
not yet spok-
