lost children

On a wretched ship
Where salty words
Are gaily met.
Though the eye be it peaceful,
Often hides the worst of storms.
We try and hide,
Inherited parts;
Rotten wood,
Broken sail.
But cutaways,
Are only but a way we preserve what’s past.
